Can Christians Take Pills? Featured Image

CAN CHRISTIANS TAKE PILLS?

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1.

Can Christians take pills? Can we go to the doctor? It is dispiriting when Christians need to see a doctor or have surgery and are criticized for “not having enough faith.” “There is, therefore, now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” We should never condemn anyone for what is happening in their lives. Yes, we believe in divine healing, but it is okay for medicine and faith to work together.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. “

James 1:17.

I believe in faith for divine health, and I also know that not all of us are at the same level of faith and knowledge of our redemptive right. But, God being so kind, He made provision for everyone. It is good to see a doctor if we feel sick or know what is wrong with us. That way, you can target your faith. When you know what is wrong, you know how to believe.

Don’t feel guilty or condemn anyone who went to the doctor; doctors are good people. I know that because my wife is a medical doctor too, and I don’t think she got her knowledge from the devil, not at all, she is a Christian, and you need to know that Satan doesn’t have any good thing to offer. The Bible calls him a thief and the evil one.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10.

God has anticipated everything in life. He knows that people will be sick, so He gave such incredible wisdom to doctors and scientists. God is a good God.

BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR PRAYER

This Christian brother was in a lot of pain but wouldn’t tell anyone. He prayed and did everything he knew spiritually, but he didn’t get better. He finally told his wife that he thought he was having heart issues. She eventually convinced him to see a doctor. He found out that nothing was wrong with his heart. Instead, he had stomach issues and heartburn.

This brother could have prayed till he was worn out and still in pain. Then, since his heart was healthy, you could say his prayers were answered. But he still hurt because he needed to take care of his stomach. So it is essential to find out what is happening, and when you know, you then channel your prayer correctly.

In the days when Jesus Christ was physically present when He was ministering to the sick, He was specific in His prayers. Just like the man that was blind. Everyone knows that this man can not see, yet Christ asks him what he wants?.

And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,  saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Luke 18:38-42.

This man is blind, and we know that everyone close to a blind person can tell if the person is blind or not. Yet Jesus asks him what he wants? What will a blind person need from a physician if not his sight? Jesus wants this man to be specific because who knows if he has some other underline issues.

Another example is seen in Lazarus when Jesus prayed him back to life. In that incident, Christ was specific in His prayer by calling Lazarus and not reaching death. He had the power to awaken every death, but Lazarus was the one in question. He was the one they asked Him to pray for so he could live again.

Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?” Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”  Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.” John 11:38 -53.

The best way to receive healing when praying is specific in your prayer. Know what is wrong and address the issue.

USE EVERY AVAILABLE PROVISION

Felix Harcourt Ministries has never been against medicine or doctors. But treatment isn’t always a cure; it’s first aid. It keeps some people alive until they can receive healing. Throwing away medicine is not good. If not for medical doctors’ help, many people could have died, including Christians.

Elisha returned to Gilgal and there was a famine in that region. While the company of the prophets was meeting with him, he said to his servant, “Put on the large pot and cook some stew for these prophets.”  One of them went out into the fields to gather herbs and found a wild vine and picked as many of its gourds as his garment could hold. When he returned, he cut them up into the pot of stew, though no one knew what they were.  The stew was poured out for the men, but as they began to eat it, they cried out, “Man of God, there is death in the pot!” And they could not eat it.  Elisha said, “Get some flour.” He put it into the pot and said, “Serve it to the people to eat.” And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

2 Kings 4:38-41.

If you desire a good body, do everything you can. So, can Christians take pills? If you have to take medication, confess God’s healing Word each time you take it. Healing from medicine is not a sin. “Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered. 2 King 20:17.

SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR? Can Christians Take Pills?

Yes, I do! In 1983,84, I got hit by a car, so I was told when I found myself in the hospital ward with tubes and strips on me. I was not supposed to be alive from the incident if not God, that works through the medical team; that is why I said doctors are a gift from God.

In 2018 I experienced tooth pain. It was so bad that I could not pray, talk with my girls, or read. I lay on the bed all day with a lot of pain; it was so profound that my girls were confused because they had not seen me in such a condition. They know I believe in health and healing, and I teach and counsel people for healing.

When the doctor in the family finally came back from work, [my wife] the girls reached out to her, and she asks for where I was; the kids told her that I was sleeping and my eyes were open, but I could not answer them a word.

When she came into the room, I used sign language to communicate with her; that tells you how bad the pain was. Unfortunately, pain is so bad that many sick people die because of pain, not even the curse of their illness.

Can Christians take pills? My wife understood what I was demonstrating, and she ministered TYLENOL to me. Thank God she did, and I thank God for the wisdom in TYLENOL. After taking the medication, the pain stopped, and I went back to the book [Bible], studied it, meditated, and prayed for myself, and the pain never returned.

If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10.

The cure for weakness is to increase strength. In spirituality, strength comes through knowledge. The Scripture admonished us to study if we don’t want to experience shame. 2 Timothy 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.

Out of curiosity, I went to see dental care; They did a series of x-ray and later found out that my tooth had a crack; from my medical history, it was suspected that it was a long time effect of the auto crash in 1983/84.

Never feel as though you are a second-class Christian because you have surgery or use the medicine. It is another line of defense. And God still gets the glory.

Does God Really Care?

NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU-JESUS SAID.

When Jesus had lifted up Himself and saw none but the Woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:10,11. KJV

Jesus demonstrated something significant in the account of the Woman caught in adultery. What enables someone to have the power to overcome sin? The threat of the law didn’t stop the Woman from committing adultery. But receiving Jesus’ acceptance, knowing that even though she deserved to be stoned to death, He did not condemn her, giving her the power to “go and sin no more.”

Let’s take a step back to examine what Jesus did. First, Jesus saved the Woman righteously. He didn’t say, “Don’t stone her. Show mercy to her.” Instead, he said, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” And on their own accord, the Pharisees and religious guys all left one by one.

Notice how, after that, Jesus did not ask the Woman, “why did you sin? No, what He asked was, “where are those who accuse you? Has no one condemned you?” it seems as if Jesus was more preoccupied with the condemnation of the sin than the sin itself. He ensured that she walked away, not feeling the condemnation and shame. Let’s not reverse God’s order. When God says something comes first, it must come first. What God puts first, man cannot put last. So God says “no condemnation” comes first, and you can “go and sin no more.”

The Christian religion has it in reverse. We say, “Go and sin no more.” First, then we won’t condemn you.” We need to understand that when there is no condemnation, people are empowered to live victoriously in their daily lives, lives that honor Jesus. that is where our freedom begins. Grace produces effortless empowerment through the revelation of no condemnation. It is an unmerited and completely undeserved inheritance, a gift from a loving Father-God.

WITHOUT JESUS, WE ARE ALL IN SIN.

Let’s tell ourselves the truth; none of us could have cast the first stone at this Woman. We have all sinned and fallen short. Our confidence today is not in our ability to keep God’s laws perfectly but in the only one, Jesus Christ, who is the fulfillment of the law itself. In Christ, we are all on equal ground. If a brother or sister gets tangled in sin, our place is not to judge them but to restore them by pointing them to the forgiveness and gift of no condemnation found in Jesus.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 1:6.

The only person without sin who could have exercised judicial punishment on the Woman was Jesus. Only He was qualified to cast the first stone, and He did not. Jesus was in the flesh to represent what was in God’s heart. It wasn’t judgment. His heart is unveiled in His grace and His forgiveness.

OBTAINING MERCY AND FINDING GRACE PRODUCES HEALTH AND HEALING.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16.

‘Mercy is God taking responsibility for what you did wrong. John 18:8. Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. If therefore ye seek Me, let these go their way,”

‘Grace is God responding to you based on who He is and not on who you are. Romans 5:8. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

There is another reason we can rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus has borne the punishment that was due us: forgiveness and healing go hand in hand. The Bible says that He who never broke a single law of God “….was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:5. Do you see how healing and the price for forgiveness are so closely intertwined in God’s Word?

Can Christians take pills? Many today are struggling to heal themselves from their sicknesses, diseases, mental dysfunctions, and addictions. I want to announce to you today that our part is to receive forgiveness from Jesus and believe that we are forgiven every day. The more forgiveness conscious we are, the more quickly we will experience healing and liberty from a bodily ailment, mental oppression, and destructive habit.

For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’?  But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Matthew 9:5,6.

The consciousness that all your sins are forgiven precedes the healing of all your diseases.
