HEALTH AND HEALING IS YOUR HERITAGE

Discovering Your Covenant Right to Divine Health Through Jesus Christ

“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” Proverbs 4:20–22 (NLT)

Introduction

Health and healing are not merely God’s occasional acts of compassion; they are part of His covenant provision for His children.

Throughout Scripture, God consistently reveals Himself as the Giver of life, health, restoration, and wholeness. From Genesis to Revelation, His desire has always been for His people to enjoy His abundant life. Jesus Christ perfectly demonstrated the Father’s heart by healing the sick, restoring the broken, and delivering those oppressed by the devil.

Many believers pray for healing as though they are asking God to do something He has not already provided. Yet the New Testament reveals something far greater: through the finished work of Jesus Christ, healing has already been secured for every believer.

The question is no longer, “Will God heal me?” The better question is, “Will I receive what Christ has already provided?”

God’s Word remains His never-failing medicine.

As we continually hear, believe, and meditate on His Word, it releases life, health, peace, strength, and restoration into every area of our lives.

Healing Is the Children’s Bread

One of the clearest statements Jesus ever made concerning divine healing is found in Matthew 15.

A Gentile woman came pleading for her demon-possessed daughter. At first, Jesus explained that His earthly ministry was primarily to the lost sheep of Israel. Then He declared:

“It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
(Matthew 15:26)

The woman responded in faith:

“Even dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

Jesus immediately commended her faith, and her daughter was instantly healed.

This remarkable account reveals an eternal truth:

Healing is called bread.

Bread is not a luxury. Bread is a daily provision. Bread belongs to the family. Jesus was teaching that healing belongs to God’s children just as naturally as bread belongs on a family’s table. If you have been born again, you are no longer an outsider. You are a child of God. Healing is not something you must earn. Healing belongs to your Father’s household.

Healing Is Our Family Right

The moment we received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we became members of God’s family.

“You received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, ‘Abba, Father.'” (Romans 8:15)

God is not merely our Creator. He is our Father. Everything a loving Father provides for His children belongs to them by family relationship. Likewise, healing is part of our heavenly inheritance. It is not based on our performance. It is based on our relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ. Healing is part of our family heritage.

Healing Is Our Covenant Right

The New Covenant is more than a spiritual agreement. It is a legally established covenant sealed forever by the blood of Jesus Christ. Hebrews declares:

“Jesus has now obtained a superior ministry since the covenant He mediates is founded on better promises.” (Hebrews 8:6)

“You have come to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant.” (Hebrews 12:24)

“The God of peace… ratified an eternal covenant through the blood of our Lord Jesus.”
(Hebrews 13:20)

Everything Jesus purchased through His sacrifice belongs to everyone who believes. Among those covenant blessings is divine healing. Matthew confirms:

“He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.” (Matthew 8:17)

Peter echoes the same truth: “By His wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)

Legally speaking, Jesus became our Substitute. He bore what belonged to us so we could receive what belonged to Him. Our sickness was placed upon Him. His healing has been given to us.

Healing Is Our Redemptive Right

Healing is inseparable from redemption. The same cross that paid for our forgiveness also provided for our healing. Isaiah prophesied:

“Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering… He was pierced for our transgressions… by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4–5)

Jesus not only saves our souls. He redeemed the whole person. Spirit. Soul. Body.

If Christ carried our sicknesses, we no longer need to carry them. Faith simply receives what redemption has already accomplished.

Healing Is Our Prayerful Right

Because we are God’s children, we can approach Him confidently. Jesus said:

“Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
(Mark 11:24)

Paul assures us: “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

The writer of Hebrews encourages us:

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Healing is one of the gracious provisions available at God’s throne. We do not beg as strangers. We come boldly as sons and daughters.

Healing Is Our Divine Right

When we were born again, something supernatural happened. We became entirely new creations.

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We were born of God’s Spirit. We received His life. We became His sons and daughters. Because our Father is divine, the life we received is divine. Healing belongs to the divine life God has placed within every believer.

Healing Is God’s Provision

Psalm 23 beautifully pictures God’s heart: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” (Psalm 23:5)

The enemies may include sickness, disease, fear, anxiety, oppression, and every attack of the enemy. Yet while the battle surrounds us, our Father has already prepared His table. On that table is a provision. Peace. Joy. Strength. Restoration. Healing. Healing is still the children’s bread. Every believer is invited to sit at the Father’s table and receive what Christ has already provided.

Feed on God’s Word Daily

Natural bread nourishes the body. God’s Word nourishes the spirit. Jesus declared:

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

The more we feed upon God’s promises concerning healing, the stronger our faith becomes. God’s Word continually releases life into every part of our being. Healing begins with hearing. Faith grows through feeding.

Faith Receives What Grace Has Provided

Faith is not trying to persuade God. Faith simply receives what God has already given.

Hebrews says: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Faith connects us to God’s finished work. Grace provided the inheritance. Faith receives the inheritance. Jesus said:

“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

Faith believes in what grace has already accomplished. It does not create healing. It receives healing.

Stop Trusting Your Performance

One of the greatest obstacles to receiving from God is trusting in our own performance rather than in Christ’s finished work.

Many believers think:

  • “I haven’t prayed enough.”
  • “I haven’t fasted enough.”
  • “I haven’t been holy enough.”
  • “Maybe God is displeased with me.”

The Bible teaches otherwise.

“A person is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ.”
(Galatians 2:16)

Our confidence is never found in our performance. It is found in Christ’s perfect obedience. When Jesus was baptized, the Father declared:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

God’s pleasure rests upon Christ. When we are in Christ, we stand accepted before the Father. Our good works do not purchase healing. They flow from a heart transformed by grace.

Abraham: A Picture of Faith

Romans 4 teaches one of the greatest lessons about receiving from God. Abraham was not declared righteous because of his works. He believed in God. His faith was counted as righteousness. Likewise, we receive God’s promises not by striving but by trusting. Healing is received the same way salvation is received. Not by earning. Not by deserving. But by believing.

The Truth You Should Know

Health and healing are not distant promises reserved for a select few. They are part of your inheritance as a child of God. Healing is:

  • Your family right.
  • Your covenant right.
  • Your redemptive right.
  • Your prayerful right.
  • Your divine right.
  • Your provision in Christ.

Jesus has already carried your sins. He has already borne your sicknesses. He has already secured your victory. Now, by faith, receive what grace has provided. Feed continually on God’s Word. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Believe His finished work. And confidently declare:

“Healing belongs to me because I belong to Jesus Christ.”

Make This Declaration:

Heavenly Father, thank You for making me Your child through Jesus Christ. Thank You that healing belongs to me because of the finished work of Christ on the cross. I choose to believe Your Word above every symptom, every diagnosis, and every circumstance. I receive Your healing by faith. I declare that my body, mind, and spirit are made whole through Jesus Christ. Thank You that by His stripes I am healed. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.
