Holy and blameless
Ephesians gives us a great foundation on living holy and blameless:
“According to as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4).
(Hebrews 3:1) says, “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.”
I like to call your attention to the word “holy brethren” in scriptures above hopefully you did not skim through the word holy brethren. That is what God himself called us in both scriptures above. Our family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors may disagree and think us otherwise as not been holy, but God says we are holy and blameless and righteous, and that is what matters the most as His word is the final authority.
RECEIVE THE WORD WITH UNDERSTANDING
We are not holy or righteous because of our actions, but because we live in the presence of God, and have His divine nature of righteousness. He gave us His righteousness as a gift:
(Romans 5:17) “…they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness…”
Before God, we are justified, and there is no record of sin or wrongdoing against our name. That is why He said we are without blame. Sadly, some have not been able to believe the truth of our justification in Christ and put away self-blame, which renders faith and Christian life ineffective due to excessive self-condemnation.
Our conscience is not supposed to keep us in the bondage of guilt and condemnation, because Jesus, the Son of God, died in our place, and he paid the ultimate price for our sins. (Acts 13:38-39). “…by him, all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
Do you know what it means to be justified? It means to be declared righteous and acquitted of all sins. The charges against us dismissed because Jesus took our place, and now we are in His place. As a result, God sees us holy, sanctified and separated unto Him.
Until we understand, believe, and accept that God has made us holy and blameless because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we will never live a holy spiritual life. A dog lives the dog life; humans live human life because they have the life of human beings. Likewise, because we have the life and nature of God, we are holy and blameless, and can live godly lives.
