IS GOD A HUMAN?

“God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the Son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it right?

Numbers 23:19.

The above Scripture is remarkably enjoyable to learn. Understanding who God is will change our perspective about Him, and our relationship with Him will be different. That’s, we will know how to relate or respond to Him.

Because of our past life experiences with people on how they treat us or demand good works, we unconsciously put God in that category daily. As a result, we relate to God as if He is a man.

Many scriptures in the Bible tell us how good God is, and God can not, in any way, be compared with men in this earthly world. Most times, God uses parables to illustrate who He is to us.

Take an example of the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32. Parables are not formulated words. The teller of the legend is telling us the kind of person he is to us. God’s forgiveness, love, and men in their earthly human form are not to be compared with God’s kind of love expression because love is God’s nature.

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8.

We regain His nature when we put our faith in Him, so we can act precisely like Him and get His same result.

GOD IS LOVE

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

(1 John 4:7-8).

Love is the totality of God’s nature; this is beyond someone having love in his heart or the ability to love; it means He’s love personified. God is love! And because He’s love, He can’t hate; it’s impossible for God to hate. Hate is of the darkness. God is light, and in Him, there’s no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). The Bible says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).

Someone may reference Romans 9:13 and ask, ” Didn’t God say, “…Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated?” (Read Malachi 1:2-3). Then, again, understanding the place of poetry and prophecy and the dichotomy of expression in the Scriptures comes in.

In 1 Samuel 16, David was the youngest in his father’s house, yet God chose him to be a king. Was God partial? Does that mean He hates all other David siblings? Not at all. The call of God was on David’s life. You’d also have to judge their communication in line with the revelation of God that we see in the New Testament, in the person of Jesus.

When the Holy Spirit reveals God to you, and you get to know Him, His love will dominate you. It’s because the more you understand how He loves you, the more like Him you become. As you meditate on His love for you, you’ll demonstrate that same love in your life. You’re a product of love. Let the love of God in your Spirit dominate you. It’s something you do. The Bible tells us not to love only in words but in deeds as well (1 John 3:18). Be like God, whose essence is love, because as He is, so are you in this world.

WE ARE EXACTLY LIKE GOD

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in our image, according to our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness];

[it means God created us in a spiritual been and not physical] and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the planet. “So, God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under our power]; and rule over [dominate] the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.” [serpent-Satan inclusive]. Genesis 1:26,27.

At one point, man [Adam] lost this identity and became a victim to Satan, and its punishment, passing it over to the generation after him. We all inherited a victim mentality from Adam, but the good news is that God has freed us through Christ. God works through Christ to re-instore us to the original state He wanted us to be through what happened on the cross.

“The Father has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, Colossians 1:13.

OUR LIFE IS IN THE WORD

“In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1.

It means God’s Word, which is the Bible, is God. Therefore, studying the Bible with the consciousness that God is the one talking to us will make a huge difference in our relationship with Him.

When we are full of God’s Word, we will be full of God; when we are full of God, we will be full of signs and wonders [miracles]. This is because God’s Word in us is God in us.

“The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life. John 6:63.

God is a Spirit, and His Words are spirits and have life. Remember, we are created in God’s image; we are smaller spirits in nature. Satan’s goal is to distract us from focusing on the Word by making us not have value in the Word.

“But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about, and Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41,42.

The Word of God is like the natural mirror that reflects our outward appearance, The same way the Word of God reveals who we are in the Spirit.

“For if you listen to the Word and do not obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. James 1:23,24.

The Word of God is a spiritual mirror that reveals who we are in Spirit.

“Therefore, if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17.

When we gave our life to Christ, we received His Spirit. However, our bodies and our soul remain the same. Therefore, our responsibility is to change our souls and minds through mind renewal with the Word. God is a Spirit and relates to His duplicate Spirit inside us.

” It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. Therefore, the words (truths) I have spoken to you are Spirit and life. John 6:63.

Our souls and our body do not determine us when relating to God.

“God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being), and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (reality). John 4:24.

It means we should relate to God more through our spiritual nature.

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6.

We are carnal when we still judge ourselves based on our soul and body. To be carnal means we analyze God’s Word with our natural sense; spiritual means we agree, believe, and live the Word.

“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. Romans 12:2.

Think of this. We are one with God. “But the one who is united and joined to the Lord is one Spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17.

CONFESSION: The love of God is expressed through me today; my communication, actions, and all that emanates from me are expressions of the love nature of Christ in my Spirit. I’m the embodiment and presentation of the love of Christ. Praise God!
