KICK FEAR TO THE CURB
Stay away from fear. Fear is demonic; fear is Satanic; fear is evil; fear is deadly; fear is not of God. Fear is not a psychological state either. According to God’s word, fear, is a spirit and you do not need to tolerate it. Fear is an enemy and not a friend. II Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Kick fear to the curb.
Fear attacks the mind so, be careful about what you think. Your thoughts shape your life. Be positive in your thought life; consider thinking about solutions and not the problems.
“Positive minds produce positive lives.”
“Negative minds produce negative lives.”
Positive thoughts are always full of faith and hope in God. Negative thoughts are full of fear, and they result in destruction. When we start thinking more and more about our problems or our challenges, our faith begins to diminish and fear begins to grip our mind. We do not deny the existence of the issues, but we do refuse to pay too much attention to them.
Fix your eyes on Jesus
“We should fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”. Hebrews 12:2. Keeping our eyes off everything that would steal our confidence or distract us from what God says is the antidote to fear. We must remember that God’s Words are the source of our life and faith. He will finish what He starts, so; there is no reason to fear. “Guard your heart more than anything else because the source of your life flows from it. Proverbs 4:23.
Recognize His ability in you
God is for you, do not give up on yourself and do not give up on God either. Take your place in Christ and deal with the spirit of fear with His ability in you. Remember, God has given us the power to drive out every evil spirit, including the spirit behind every fear.
In Luke 9:1. “When Jesus had called the twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and cure diseases.
John 20:21. Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”
John 14:12. Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father.
Wake up and stand against the spirit of fear with His Word.
Fear is mentioned 365 times in the Bible. It means in every day of our lives; God is telling us not to be afraid. Fear keeps people from making progress. Fear makes you have faith in what you are worried about rather than the Word of God. It makes you moved by what you see, what you feel and not what God is saying about you. It makes you believe in the natural instead of the spiritual. Scripture says, “To be ruled by our senses is dead, but to be ruled by the Word of God is life.” Romans 8:6.
Fear is the opposite of faith.
Fear attracts what you are afraid of. When you are so scared of the death, it will attract death. If you are fearful of divorce, it will attract divorce. Whatever thing you are fearful of that is what it will attract. Take an example from brother Job in the book of Job 3:25. “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. Faith builds, but fear destroys. When you are afraid of anything, it means you lack the right knowledge of what you are afraid of. Absence of light is the presence of darkness. To eliminate darkness is to introduce light. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6. It is ignorance that creates room for fear. When you understand your place of identity in Christ, His unconditional love for you, and the excellent Spirit of Him in you, fear will never be found in you. Fear will not even come around you.
Ignorance welcomes fear
To kick fear to the curb, it can only be stopped permanently through knowledge and not just prayer. It is ignorance that kills people and not actually Satan. In most cases, Satan takes advantage of people’s ignorance. Another lesson to learn from Mr. Job. “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that highly respects God, and eschewed evil. Job 1:1. Mr. Job lacked the knowledge of his perfectness, his right standing in God. His ignorance about who he was, the position he had in God and the divine protection he had in God brought about his destruction.
Mr. Job was busy making fearful sacrifices and asking God for mercies daily. “When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning, he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned might have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom. Job 1:5.
Be confident in God.
Just to let you know, in the new covenant, God has also made us perfect in Him. Take advantage of Christ’s finished work on your life, and be free from the torment of fear. Jesus has made a way for us to be bold and confident through His death on the cross. Because of what He has done for us, we can live with total confidence, knowing that He loves us and cares for us.
When we understand that we can rightfully approach God with confidence, we will be able to overcome and kick fear to the curb. We will no longer buy into the lies of the spirit of fear that causes us to say to ourselves, ‘well, I know God can do great things, but I find it hard to believe He will do them for me’. We think such thoughts because we do not believe we are worthy, but we must always remember that Jesus has made us worthy.
Feeling unworthy is not a sign of holiness or righteousness; God wants us to be bold and confident before Him. “This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. But now he has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him. Colossians 1:21,22.
