Live Ready, Live Prepared, Live Expectantly

Jesus Christ Is Coming Again

By Felix Harcourt Ministries

As I sat at the airport in Paris waiting to board my flight to Minneapolis, the Holy Spirit impressed a powerful message upon my heart. While observing the crowds around me, I noticed people rushing from place to place, buying food, eating, scrolling through their phones, and engaging in countless activities. Everyone seemed busy. The terminals were filled with movement, conversations, and distractions.

Yet amid all the activity, a sobering thought arose within me: people are diligently preparing for their next flight, meeting, meal, and appointment, but very few appear to be preparing for the most important event in human history, the return of Jesus Christ.

Our generation is more connected than ever before, yet many are disconnected from the eternal realities that matter most. We live in a world consumed by schedules, entertainment, social media, careers, and the pursuit of temporary things. People are busy externally with endless activities and internally with worries, ambitions, and concerns. However, the question remains: Are we living ready for the Lord’s return?

Jesus warned that His coming would catch many by surprise because they would be absorbed in the ordinary affairs of life. They would be eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building, carrying on with their daily routines without any expectation of His appearing (Luke 17:26-30). Not because these activities are wrong, but because they can easily become distractions that cause people to forget eternal realities.

The Holy Spirit reminded me that the Church must not lose its expectation of Christ’s return. The blessed hope of every believer is not found in earthly achievements, financial success, or worldly recognition. Our hope is in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13).

This message is therefore a call to every believer: Live Ready, Live Prepared, and Live Expectantly. Jesus Christ is coming again. His promise remains true. His return is certain. The signs around us remind us that His coming is nearer than when we first believed.

Now is the time to awaken spiritually, walk closely with God, remain steadfast in faith, and keep our hearts focused on eternal things. Let us not become so occupied with the temporary that we neglect preparation for the eternal. May we live each day with the joyful expectation that our Lord could return at any moment.

Jesus Christ is coming again. Are you living ready, prepared, and expectant?

One of the greatest truths in Christianity is the promise that Jesus Christ will return. This is not merely a religious slogan, a motivational statement, or a symbolic idea. It is a divine promise spoken repeatedly throughout Scripture. Jesus came the first time as Savior, but He will return again as King and Judge.

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of every believer.

In a world filled with uncertainty, wars, fear, moral decline, deception, and instability, the return of Jesus reminds us that history is not out of control. God has a plan, and that plan will reach its perfect conclusion when Christ returns.

The question every believer must ask is not merely, “Do I believe Jesus is coming?” but rather, “Am I living ready for His coming?”

Many people are preparing for careers, weddings, vacations, retirement, investments, and earthly achievements, yet they neglect the greatest preparation of all: preparing for eternity.

Jesus is coming again.

Because of this truth, believers are called to live ready, live prepared, and live expectantly.

Jesus Promised He Would Return

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His disciples a powerful promise.

John 14:2-3 says: “In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself…”

Jesus did not say He might come again. He said, “I will come again.”

The return of Christ is certain.

The same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem, crucified on the cross, buried in the grave, and raised from the dead will return again in glory.

Acts 1:11 declares: “This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Heaven and earth may change, but the promises of God remain sure.

Why Many People Ignore the Return of Christ

One of the dangers of modern society is spiritual distraction. People have become consumed with daily pursuits, entertainment, social media, material success, and temporary pleasures. Many live as though earthly life is all there is.

Jesus warned about this condition.

Matthew 24:37-39 says: “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage… and knew not until the flood came…”

The people in Noah’s generation were busy with normal life but spiritually unprepared. They ignored God’s warning until judgment suddenly came.

Likewise, today, many people are spiritually asleep. Some mock the message of Christ’s return. Others postpone repentance, assuming they have unlimited time.

But Scripture repeatedly reminds us that Jesus will return unexpectedly.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 says: “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

This does not mean Jesus comes secretly to believers; it means His coming will surprise those who are unprepared.

Live Ready Spiritually

To live ready means to maintain a genuine relationship with God daily.

Christianity is not merely church attendance or religious activity. Readiness for Christ’s return begins with salvation through Jesus Christ.

A person may know about God and still not know God personally.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:21: “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven…”

God is not looking for empty religion; He is looking for transformed hearts.

Living ready means living in faith, obedience, repentance, and fellowship with Christ.

It means refusing to compromise with sin even when society normalizes it.

It means carefully guarding your spiritual life.

Many people prepare seriously for earthly events while neglecting spiritual preparation. Students prepare for examinations. Athletes prepare for competitions. Travelers prepare for journeys. Yet eternity is the greatest reality people often ignore.

If Jesus were to return today, would you be ready?

This question is not meant to instill fear in believers but to prompt honest reflection.

Live Prepared Through Holy Living

Preparation for Christ’s coming involves holy living.

1 Peter 1:15-16 says: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.”

The world is moving further away from biblical truth. Sin is increasingly celebrated while righteousness is often mocked. But believers are called to live differently.

Holiness does not mean perfection in human strength. It means separation unto God.

A prepared believer seeks to honor God in speech, thoughts, relationships, conduct, and priorities.

Jesus warned believers to stay spiritually awake.

Luke 21:34 says: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life…”

Many people are spiritually distracted by worldly cares. The pressure of life, the pursuit of money, the desire for comfort, and endless distractions have weakened spiritual alertness.

Some believers no longer pray consistently. Some rarely study Scripture deeply. Others have become spiritually cold because worldly pursuits have taken first place.

Preparation requires intentional spiritual discipline.

Prayer keeps the heart sensitive to God.

The Word of God keeps believers grounded in truth.

Fellowship strengthens faith.

Obedience keeps the conscience clear.

A prepared believer does not live carelessly.

Live Expectantly With Hope

The return of Jesus is not meant to terrify believers; it is meant to fill them with hope.

Titus 2:13 calls it: “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”

The world is filled with pain, injustice, suffering, sickness, wars, and uncertainty. But Christ’s return reminds believers that this present world is not the end of the story.

Jesus will return to establish righteousness fully.

He will wipe away tears.

He will defeat evil completely.

He will fulfill every promise.

Revelation 21:4 says: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying…”

This hope gives believers strength during difficult times.

The early Church lived with a strong expectation of Christ’s return. They endured persecution, hardship, and suffering because they knew this world was temporary.

Sadly, many modern believers have become too attached to earthly systems. Some live as though their greatest purpose is only comfort, success, and material achievement.

But Scripture reminds us that believers are pilgrims and strangers on earth.

Our ultimate citizenship is in heaven.

The Danger of Spiritual Sleep

One of the greatest dangers in the last days is spiritual sleepiness.

Jesus told the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25. All were waiting for the bridegroom, but only five were truly prepared when he arrived.

The foolish virgins were not ready when the moment came.

The lesson is clear: outward association with Christianity is not enough. Spiritual readiness must be personal and genuine.

Many people assume they have time to repent later, pray later, obey later, or serve God later.

But tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Life is fragile and temporary.

James 4:14 says: “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeared for a little time, and then vanished away.”

Every day brings humanity closer to eternity.

This is why believers must avoid spiritual complacency.

Signs of the Times

The Bible speaks of conditions that would increase before Christ’s return: deception, moral decline, wars, fear, lawlessness, and growing hostility toward truth.

Today, we see many of these realities unfolding globally.

People are searching desperately for answers while rejecting the God who created them.

Truth is increasingly compromised.

Evil is normalized.

Technology advances rapidly while morality declines.

People are more connected digitally but spiritually emptier.

Yet amid all these conditions, believers must not panic. Instead, these signs should remind us that God’s Word is true.

Jesus said in Luke 21:28: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

For believers, the return of Christ is not a message of despair but of expectation.

What Should Believers Be Doing While Waiting?

While waiting for Christ’s return, believers are called to remain faithful.

We are to preach the Gospel.

We are to live holy lives.

We are to love people.

We are to serve faithfully.

We are to remain spiritually watchful.

Jesus said in Mark 13:35-37: “Watch ye therefore… And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”

A watchful believer stays spiritually awake.

This means refusing compromise, resisting distraction, and maintaining intimacy with God.

The Church must not become spiritually comfortable in a dying world.

This is the time for revival, prayer, evangelism, and deeper devotion to Christ.

The Urgency of the Hour

The world is changing rapidly. Human systems are unstable. Nations are uncertain. Many hearts are filled with fear.

But believers have hope because Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The return of Christ is closer now than ever before.

Romans 13:11 says: “Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

This is not the hour for spiritual laziness.

This is not the hour to drift away from God.

This is not the hour to compromise truth for popularity.

This is the hour to return fully to God with sincerity, passion, holiness, and expectation.

Final Truth You Should Know

Jesus is coming again.

This truth should shape how believers think, live, pray, and prepare.

Live ready spiritually.

Live prepared through holiness and obedience.

Live expectantly with joy and hope.

Do not allow the distractions of this world to steal your spiritual focus.

Do not become spiritually asleep in a generation filled with distraction and deception.

Remain faithful.

Remain watchful.

Remain devoted to Christ.

One day, the trumpet will sound.

One day, faith will become sight.

One day, the King of kings will return in glory.

And those who belong to Him will rejoice at His appearing.

Until then, may every believer live with this conviction in their hearts:

Jesus Christ is coming again.
