MARRIAGE AND FRIENDSHIP
EXPRESSING YOUR GODLY NATURE IN THE MARRIage
Christianity is not a religion or a denomination; Christianity is a living thing; it’s living the Father’s life here on earth. It is a living relationship with God in Christ Jesus. The scripture said, As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Colossians 2:6.
It has a little bit of religion in James 1:27. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their afflictions. So this is just a bit of religion in Christianity.
Christianity is us, the believer living out the life of Christ here on earth. That is manifesting His nature to the world. When they see you, they should see Christ in you. Christ was fully representing the Father. That is why when they ask Him, “Show us the Father. His response was when you see me, you have seen the Father. It means I am not different from my Father. I am the duplicate of Him. Remember what Christ said in John 20:21. Then, Jesus said to them again, “Peace be unto you. As My Father hath sent Me, even so, send I you.” Christ sends us to represent, manifest, and act on His behalf.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:20. We all know the meaning of an ambassador. In case you don’t know. Ambassador is an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. In clear language. An ambassador is someone who represents a king or a president in a foreign land.
Now you know that you are not an ordinary citizen. You are god in human form. The small “g” god.
Religious people will not agree with me, but they should remember what the scripture said in John 10:34. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law? I said Ye are gods? This is Christ telling people like you. In case you find it challenging to agree with what I’m trying to explain.
It is okay, I understand. Unfortunately, time will not permit me to pull out all the religious mindset from you. You can call in for counseling or check out more of our articles on our website at www.fhmi.net
In Genesis 1:26. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
We all know that God is a Spirit, and if we are made in God’s image, it means we are spirits, but we live in a body. Every living thing will give birth to its kind. A sheep will give birth to a sheep, and a dog will give birth to a dog, which means God will give birth to a god.
Man is a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body. God relates to your spirit, His nature that is in you. Until you agree with your spiritual nature, believe in it, think it and live it, you will not fully access or benefit from the things in the spiritual realm.
Romans 8:6. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and Peace.
A carnal mind is someone who does not see the truth in God’s Word; who is so physical in his reasoning, but it’s a Christian. This kind of Christians annalizes God’s Word carnally. They fail to realize that God is a Spirit and when He speaks, He speaks from His spiritual standpoint. In John 6:63.Says, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. You need to be spiritually minded to understand God’s Word.
That is why when Christ said Lazarus was sleeping. Thomas responded, let’s go and sleep with him. John 11:11. Thomas was so carnal to understand what Christ meant. Carnal believers hardly benefit from God’s kingdom’s inheritance.
And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory. Romans 8:17.
Let’s bring everything we have learned to our marital lives.
ONENESS WITH SPOUSE
Genesis 20:12. But indeed, she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my Father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
The scripture indicates that father Abraham was married to his half-sister. I believe this was a spiritual reflection on how we ought to relate to our spouses. God is a Spirit, and He relates to His duplicate Spirit inside us because He made us spiritual beings.
Most of the time, God uses physical things to illustrate a message to us because of the physical body we are putting on. Yes, Abraham was married to his half-sister, so the scripture told us but flipped the coin to the Spirit as God asks us to be spiritually minded.
God said husband and wife are one and not two in Genesis 2:24. Therefore, a man shall leave his Father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
I believe it means they are of one parent from one source; God is their Father. In Spirit, we are all God’s children, which is the real us. My wife is my sister, and I am her brother because we are born of the same Father in the Spirit. [GOD]
There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6.
Abraham never had any issues with his half-sister, his wife. Even in the natural sense, you will hardly see a brother and sister born of the same parents from one DNA having significant problems that will break their relationship forever.
Siblings will always get along irrespective of their differences. I believe that is how God wants us to live with our spouses. It is working well for me as I view my wife like my sister, and you know, naturally, I will not want to betray or stab my biological sister. So, I won’t even dare to kill my spiritual sister.
I am not saying you should go and marry your biological sister. Not at all. I am just relating to the spiritual nature we have in Christ. The scripture reveals that we are made in God’s image and born of the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:6.
In Mark 3:32-35. And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.” But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
We are a spirit that lives in the body and has a soul; Bringing this understanding into our marriage relationship will help illuminate marital challenges for God being our Father.
1 John 3:1. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Abraham, with his wife, understood that God is their Father, and they see themselves as siblings; this knowledge makes them live peacefully in their marital life. Sarah was so respectful, full of obedient, and submissive to her brother, calling him my Lord.
1 Peter 3:6. As Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
As long spouses see themselves from different parents, even when the scripture has said both of them are one, they will keep having troubles. Genesis 2:24. Therefore, a man shall leave his Father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
The man and the woman become one when they are married. It means they no longer see themselves as different from the other womb but become one in union with God.
1 Corinthians 6:17. But he who is joined to the Lord is one Spirit with Him.
Even in the world system, you hardly find children born to the same parents killing each other with knives or guns or having unsettled fighting. Yet, suppose you have ever seen one. Then, it’s demonic, satanic, and not of God if it happens in your family.
Suppose you want to experience everlasting Peace in your marital life and marriage without divorce. Then humble yourself to walk with God from your spiritual standpoint.
BECOME YOUR SPOUSES BEST FRIEND LIKE JESUS’
1 Corinthians 1:9. “God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.”
Abraham was called the “friend of God” because he enjoyed a close fellowship with the Lord (James 2:23). God wouldn’t do anything without telling his friend. In other words, Abraham was God’s best friend.
Now, God has called you into fellowship and friendship with His Son Jesus Christ, which means you’re called into oneness, partnership, and union with the Lord Jesus. You have to be in constant communication with the Master. Study His Word to hear from Him; listen in your spirit for His voice, for He has said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” John 10:27.
As you fellowship with Him in prayer, His perfect will is unveiled to you; His counsel and guidance for your life are made clear to you. The Holy Spirit is the One that helps you in your fellowship with Jesus, but your heart must be willing. Fellowship is something you do consciously in response to the Master’s love. If you love Jesus, you should be ready to spend time with Him daily. Remember, He’s the Word become flesh, so you spend time with Him when you spend time studying and meditating on the Word.
Your fellowship with the Lord is unique to you. He doesn’t have, has never had, and will never have a copy of you, and that’s why He cherishes your fellowship and love. You’re His partner and friend, in a way, no one else in the world can be. So make Jesus your greatest friend, and walk with Him every day. Your times of personal Bible study, prayer, worship, and praise should be sacred moments; don’t take them lightly.
The more you relate with Him through His Word and the Spirit, the more His character and personality are revealed in and through you. Proof of your relationship with God is your fruit.
