One With Christ
“You have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:9-10). We are One With Christ.
In Christ, we have much more than mere religion. We received the life and nature of God when we received Christ into our hearts. We were born anew; we were born of God. John 1:12-13. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
We are a new creature in Jesus. We have the resurrection life because we were raised together with Christ to a new life altogether. Ephesians 2:4-6. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us with Christ and seated us with him in heavenly realms in Christ Jesus”.
We died with Him. When He was buried, we were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, we were raised together with Him.
We received a new life when He was raised from the dead. When He was raised from the dead, He was born again Acts 13:33 “..he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: “‘ You are my Son; today I have become your Father. He came up with a new life, the resurrection life. So, when the Bible says, “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17), it means there’s been a replacement of our old life and nature with the resurrection life. We no longer have the old nature and life that sinned. That old nature is dead; he died in Christ.
Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Our past, with all the failures, weaknesses, and defeat, were buried with Him. Now, we have a new life in Jesus. And that is who we are.
