Seven Benefits of Praying in the Spirit

“For anyone who prays in the Spirit does not pray to people but God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. [14] For if I pray in the Spirit, my Spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 1 Corinthians 14:2, and 14.  Here are the Seven Benefits of Praying in the Spirit:

1. Praying in the Spirit is another way of reinforcing our prayer lives.

How Faith Works

In mark 14:38, Jesus said, Watch and pray, lest you get into temptation. The Spirit is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Praying in the Spirit always makes our spirit be in control over our flesh. The forces against us are spiritual, so we must confront them from the spirit realm, as the soul has no enough power to handle them. That is why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit as a gift to help us stand strong and firm when we are weak in our bodies.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God Romans 8:26,27.

Until we engage the help of the Holy Spirit in prayer, we may never experience lasting victory in Christ. There are forces beyond the natural, which are out to contend with our success in Christ; therefore, we need to engage spiritual power The Holy Spirit to stand our ground.

2. Praying in the Spirit is the most effective way of resisting forces contending with our victorious living.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand, stand. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and keep always praying for all the Lord’s people Ephesians 6:12,13,18.

When we pray in the Spirit, no one, including the devil, knows what we are saying, as we are speaking to God alone in mysteries. When we pray in the Spirit, we go beyond the natural realm to the spiritual, where things are controlled.

“These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own Spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” 1 Corinthians 2:10,11

“When our Spirit prays, we are praying the will of God. So, we can be confident, and it is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him 1 John 5:14,15.

3. Praying in the Spirit allows us to speak directly to God.

“ For anyone who prays in the Spirit does not pray to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 14:2.

When we pray in the Spirit, we are praying in God’s will. And it’s directly to Him. Praying in the Spirit allows our natural mind to get out of the way so our Spirit can commune with the Father.

4. Praying in the Spirit keeps us in tune with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Is Our Advantage

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:4.

Praying in the Spirit is a gift from God. It allows us to pray the will of our Heavenly Father by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. When we pray in the Spirit, we yield to the Holy Spirit who dwells in us and allows Him to pray through us, and we become in tune with Him.

5. Praying in the Spirit strengthens our bodies:

Anyone who prays in the Spirit edifies himself,…1 Corinthians 14:4.

Praying in the Spirit builds us up spiritually and helps us to live a Spirit-led life. It makes us spiritually sensitive to our environment. When Praying in the Spirit, it enables us to pray even when we do not feel like praying, or when we do not know what to pray.

”In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26.

Even when we do not know how or what to pray, we can still pray in the Spirit. We can trust the Holy Spirit in us to pray the perfect will of God, regardless of the situation.

6. Praying in the Spirit, a weapon against the works of the enemy.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:15-18.

Jesus proclaimed several things that would happen to those who followed Him and continued His work. Praying in the Spirit is one of those gifts, and it allows Jesus’ followers to stand against the work of the enemy.

7. Praying in the Spirit helps us to trust God.

It builds our faith to believe in God’s Words. “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, Jude 20.

Praying in the Spirit stimulates faith and helps us learn how to trust God more fully. For example, faith must be exercised to pray in the Spirit because the Holy Spirit supernaturally directs the words we speak. You see, we do not know what the next word out of our mouth will be, we must trust God for that. Trusting God in one area of our lives helps us trust Him in another area of our lives. Praying in the Spirit is a gift that is available to every believer. It enables us to pray God’s will to Him. It keeps us in tune with the Holy Spirit and strengthens our spirits as we stand against the works of the devil. We shouldn’t forsake this powerful gift of God. The advantage of the Spirit makes us strong in faith as Christians.

“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong in the Lord .” Romans 1:11.
