The Place of Prayer
Prayer is a necessity for our daily triumph. It’s a privilege given to us by our loving Father to meet with Him. So, likewise, it’s an honorable calling from our heavenly Father to meet with His loving children. Thus, when we go into a place of prayer, we honor His invitation to commune with Him.
God derives pleasure in conversing with us, just like every good natural parent loves having a conversation with their kids. So God felt blessed seeing us using His authority on earth, destroying the devil’s work. The scripture reveals that God visits Adam and Eve in the cool of the day.
Genesis 3:8. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
God has no problem with us, His children; as you can see from the above scripture, as his costume is, He visits Adam and Adam, representing each of us; hide himself, avoiding talking with God. But unfortunately, that is how most of us behave when we want to pray. We have this attitude of being inferior, full of guilt, condemning ourselves be for our loving Father- in the “name” of confessing sin or being holy.
Once we assume that position, we shouldn’t expect a positive outcome from our prayer with that mindset. The foundation is already faulty; most of your prayers have not been answered not because God doesn’t want to but because your sin consciousness has made you go into hiding just like Adam and Eve.
1 Peter 5:8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Satan is after your confidence, courage, and boldness, so you have to be wise not to give him a room if you want to control your daily affairs.
A place of prayer is a place to receive.
In Hebrews 4:16- Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need.
Please note these words, come, boldly, Throne, Grace, and obtain. I will explain every one of them very briefly.
Seven Benefits of Praying in the Spirit
Come:
Let us therefore come. Come is an invitation. When one is invited to come, the one who extended the invitation is responsible for the care of the invitee. The position of the host in society will determine the type of care he will extend to the invitee. Our heavenly Father is the one who raises the invitation to us to come. He is capable of taking care of our needs. For instance, if a well-placed man in our society extends a hand of invitation to us to come over to his palace, I believe the cost of the fair will be taken care of by the well-placed man.
Our heavenly Father is greater than the president, minister, secretary, king, and queen. So, when the Father says come, we should be excited because we will benefit from it. When the president invites us, we are excited; we should also be excited when the heavenly Father invites us. There is no way God will ask us to come and not prepare to take care of us. Therefore, a place of prayer is a place of honoring the invitation the Father has extended to us.
Isaiah 1:18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
You can’t reason with God and remain in the prison of life. You can’t go in for prayer, and your request remains unanswered. God wants us to understand that He loves us and believes in us. When we walk into worship with this mindset that we are accepted, acknowledged, and loved by our heavenly Father, it will make a huge difference in our lives.
Bold:
It is the same word as confidence. We should honor the initiation with confidence and not with an inferiority complex but be filled with boldness and not feel inferior. In the natural, It is an embarrassment and insult when we approach a setting president with inferiority, fear, and shyness. Why should we do that to God? No child of a president in his right mind will walk into his Father’s presence with the attitude of shame, guilt, fear, and intimidation.
In Christ, there is no condemnation. Romans 8:1. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Our heavenly Father wants us to talk to Him with confidence because, with boldness, we can command mountains and destroy the enemy’s works.
James 1:6-7. You must have faith as you ask Him. You must not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like a wave which is pushed around by the sea. Such a man will get nothing from the Lord.
Throne:
Come boldly to the Throne. A throne is a holy office; a chair where a king sits. It is a secluded place, the position of authority, and it is not an ordinary place. The Lord is calling us to a place of authority. Whenever we honor the invitation of God “Come,” we are out of the ordinary and into the position of superiority.
A king is set on his Throne to give judgment and issues order. The king is in charge; likewise, when we come to the Throne where God has called us to be. We act in His capacity to give orders and not us to be ordered. Satan is at our mercy anytime we accent to that place of the Throne in prayer.
The place of prayer is a place where we make things happen. We take control of the spiritual and transcend into the natural. Our power to influence things is in the place of prayer.
Jeremiah 1:10. Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”
Grace:
It means God will not respond to us based on who we are, our color, looks, and morality. So we should not come condemned, look punished because there is no judgment in the Throne of Grace. Our sin will not be remembered where Grace is. Romans 5:20. The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, Grace increased all the more,
We are pure, white as snow anytime we come to God in prayer. We become enveloped with Grace. A place of prayer is not a place to count all your wrongdoing to God. Not at all. Grace appeared twice from our study text, telling us that sin has no place when we come to our heavenly Father in prayer.
You must understand that God does not respond to us based on who we are or what we have done, but He responds to us based on who He is and what Christ has done for us. It’s all about Jesus. The power to receive and to make things happen is in the name of Jesus. Our perfect picture is in Christ. When we come to God in prayer in the Name of Jesus, God doesn’t longer sees us but sees Christ finish work in us. As new testament believers, we are not required to come to God with the consciousness of sin.
Hebrews 10:2. For if it were otherwise, would not these sacrifices have stopped being offered? For the worshipers, having once [for all time] been cleansed, would no longer have a consciousness of sin.
Obtain:
There is provision and availability of what we want in life. It is a time to receive, and it’s not a place of asking, begging, or pleading but a place to receive. A place of prayer is a place to receive.
No child in their right mind will beg their parents for food to eat or all necessary things a child will want for life. It is the parents’ responsibility to provide for their kids. As Christians, we don’t have to appeal for our necessity because the provision is already available; that is why the Father said we should come to obtain, receive what He has made, prepared for us.
Luke 14:17. At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
We got to receive our healing, not asking for healing. So be in the position to receive. That you are sick doesn’t mean Christ hasn’t healed you or living in lack does not mean Christ has not blessed you and if you feel you lied two hours ago doesn’t mean He has not given you His nature.
For the fact that Christ is no longer on the Cross and in the Grave implies everything you need to live a victorious life has been provided.
2 Peter 1:3. He gives us everything we need for life and for holy living. He gives it through His great power. As we come to know Him better, we learn that He called us to share His own shining-greatness and perfect life.
It is clear that in the environment of God, there is no condemnation, judgment, or guilt, and no sin is remembered. So we should approach God without a feeling of sin consciousness. Instead, we should approach God, knowing His nature as a loving and caring Father. The Throne is not for victims’ mentality but superiority mentality. Satan, the enemy, wants us to be victimized so that he can deal with us. So watch out, don’t give in to his lies. Instead, seek an understanding of what Grace is and embrace it. It will make a big difference in your life and prayer life when you do.
Hebrews 4:16: Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the Throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find Grace to help in time of need.
