You Can Do It

YES, YOU CAN DO IT. Don’t throw in the towel.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work

2 Corinthians 9:8.

Every Christian has the grace to excel in every good work. The scripture above says God is able to direct all the grace we require for anything in this life towards us, such that we’re never behind in competence or ability. We’re qualified for any task; that means having “all sufficiency in all things.”; we have all the competencies, special skills, and abilities required for excellence.

The word translated as “sufficiency” in Second Corinthians 9 verses 8 is the Greek word “autarkeia,” which indicates a state of self-sufficiency whereby we require no aid or support. God has given us a life that’s so balanced, such that we’re so efficient, effective, and capable that we don’t require any help! Think, see, and live from this perspective of limitless possibilities and endless opportunities. We’re graced to excel in every aspect of our lives: our job, family, academics, and daily pursuits.

2 Corinthians 3:5 says, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.” This time, the word “sufficiency” derives from another Greek word, “hikanotes,” which means competence, being qualified enough for the task. So, no matter our challenges, they’re bread for us; we’re competent to handle them.

No wonder Paul could boldly affirm in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” If we were chosen for something, there’s no need to wonder whether or not we can do it; our competence is of God. We’ve been specially enabled to live supernaturally to the glory of God.

Even now, I declare, “I make great things happen! Good things are happening for me and through me; I’m excellent and have an amazing life because I’m graced to produce excellence.” Praise God!

IMAGINATION

  • Imagination and memory are necessary functions unique to our lives; let us see what wise men say about imagination.
  • Imagination is more important than knowledge: Albert Einstein.
  • Imagination makes man the master of animals: Shakespeare.
  • Imagination governs the world: Benjamin Disraeli.
  • Imagination gives sight to the eyes: Felix Harcourt.

Whatever you continuously imagine in your Heart has a 90% possibility of manifesting in real life. Whether positive or negative.

Genesis 11:6. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

God works with our imagination, but He is against negative imagination. He stood against that wrong imagination in verses 7 and 8 of Genesis 11

Let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

We are all the seed of Abraham’s imagination; that is, Abraham conceives us in his imagination when he had no child for an extended period, even when God had promised him. But he couldn’t see the possibility of that because of his age, and the only way God could fulfill that promise was to teach Abraham how to imagine in Genesis 13:14-16.

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward;  for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.  And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.

If you study Abraham’s history, you will notice that the generation after Abraham was all productive, imaginative people.

Example: Jacob. In Genesis 30:37-43.

“Now Jacob took for himself rods of green poplar and of the almond and chestnut trees, peeled white strips in them, and exposed the white which was in the rods. And the rods which he had peeled, he set before the flocks in the gutters, in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, so that they should conceive when they came to drink.  So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.  Then Jacob separated the lambs, and made the flocks face toward the streaked and all the brown in the flock of Laban; but he put his own flocks by themselves and did not put them with Laban’s flock. And it came to pass, whenever the stronger livestock conceived, that Jacob placed the rods before the eyes of the livestock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.  But when the flocks were feeble, he did not put them in; so the feebler were Laban’s and the stronger Jacob’s.  Thus the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.

We are part of the Abrahamic covenant, meaning we can imagine great possibilities. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29. Your imagination, however, is determined by what you feed into your mind. Therefore, it is wise not to provide junk pieces of information. You cannot walk in burning coals without being scorched. A free moral agent is how we are designed to function; it’s our choice to have an excellent or vile imagination.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. James 1:14.

Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20.

Therefore, if you allow Jesus into your mind and Heart, He will bring His spiritual food, feed you, and dine with you, and you shall have health flowing in your Heart and causing your body to experience life.

You Can Do It

If you allow the devil to enter, he shall feed you with lies, wickedness, immorality, etc. Thus, your mind shall be steeped into the pool of iniquity, and your Heart shall embrace vile imagination, thereby damaging your body.

A wise man said, “A vile imagination once indulged gets the key of our minds and can get in again very easily, whether we will or not, and can so return as to bring seven other spirits with it even more wicked than itself, and what may follow no one knows.”

Therefore, the best thing to do is to ensure you do not hand over the key of your mind to the devil. Feed your eyes and ears with good scenes and words as much as possible. Avoid bad companies, places, programs, books, etc. You shall have great peace if you keep your Heart on God and his ways. But if you do otherwise, you invite turmoil into your Heart.

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3.

MEMORY

Memory is the power of the mind by which things can be remembered. You can only remember things that have been stored in your mind either through data collection or through daily life encounters. That means while imagination projects the future, memory rewinds the past. Although you do not have much power over what you remember, you can certainly have the ability to determine your thoughts, which is an integral part of your imagination. Those units of ideas form your words and actions.

Your actions and words form your character, which determines your habit. Your habits determine what influences you, positive or negative. Your memory and imagination are crucial, as you can see, and therefore, should not be allowed to run wild.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8.

FIGHT AGAINST NEGATIVITY

A good man out of the good treasure of his Heart brings forth good things, and an evil ma out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. Matthew 12:35.

Anything you value is a treasure to you, whether good or evil. Most often, treasures are customarily hidden and brought out only when needed. Whatever you have hidden in the secret chambers of your Heart is a treasure. If you hide evil in your Heart, that evil constitutes an “evil treasure,” the evil treasure makes you an evil person, and because you are evil inside, you will exhibit corruption on the outside.

On the other hand, storing valuable things in your Heart makes you a good person, and you have no option but to manifest goodness. That is the mystery in the above-quoted scripture.

The good treasures are the Heart’s friends, while the imperfect prizes are the Heart’s enemies. Whatsoever wars against your nature, actions against your entire life, and health.

For out of the Heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” Matthew 15:19,20.

When these ‘evil treasures’ manifest, they defile a man. Besides that, these ‘evil treasures’ also unsettle the Heart of man, causing turmoil and destructive quilt.

In the above-quoted scripture, thoughts precede all the evil actions named. Therefore, these ‘evil treasures’ start in ideas and mature into activities, and these wrong actions defile a man.

Therefore, the Bible instructs that the only way to deal with these thoughts is to take them into captivity and stop them before they manifest.

“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5.

It entails weighing every thought in the light of God’s word. Anyone who does not fit must be stopped. You have the power to control your thinking, you can do it. Like a wise man once said: until you can stop the thought, you cannot prevent the act”. Furthermore, if you upgrade your Heart, your life will remain grounded.

STAND STRONG

The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, But who can bear a broken spirit? Proverbs 18:14.

When the devil is out to destroy a man, he releases pressure on him from all angles. He aims at the man to down his tools and allows Satan to access the man’s soul. These pressures can come from sickness, disappointments, emotions, psychological trauma, grief, marital problems, hunger, nakedness, etc.

No matter how terrible your problem or sickly you are, nothing evil can happen to you as long as your courage is intact, you can do it. The scripture cautions: “Guard your heart with all diligence.” Otherwise, if the pressures of this life gain entrance through your Heart into your soul, your life will soon be over. At that point, there is nothing any man can do to help you. And is it because when pressures or problems enter a man’s soul, they wound him fatally: a wounded soul who can bear them? That means no matter how strong or hefty you look, once your soul is wounded, the last citadel of your being has penetrated and nothing but destruction.

On the other hand, the scripture we quoted first said, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity.” That means as long as your Heart is healthy, let the storms come, and you will sail through. Let the sickness come in whatever dimension; there will still be hope. Let the enemies attack with any weapon available; they will fall like pebbles; with faith, you can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:16.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

In Psalm 118, the Psalmist was surrounded by troubles. The enemies against him were referred to as “All Nations.” Destruction was imminent; life was ebbing out of him; the throes of death were a visible reality. Yet, amid his seaming calamity, he lifted his voice and made a choice; “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Psalm 118:17.

Immediately, he made these declarations; the devil tried to play a fast one on him. First, the devil seems to have whispered in his Heart that he must surely die because of his sins. Then, the devil began to educate him on the sins he had committed and how God was chastising him for them. Finally, the devil must have concluded that the end of that chastisement was nothing but death.

For the second time, the Psalmist returned fire for fire. He said: “The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death,” Psalm 118:18.

That was the end of the battle, the devil fled, and that Psalm ended with thanksgiving unto God.

YOU EXPERIENCE YOUR DESIRE

God created us as free moral agents and will never force His choice on us. However, we must make the right choice when confronted with life and death. Whatever option is what will be confirmed.

There is this story about an incident that happens in a community. Two women were involved in an auto crash, and both of them were severely injured; in the hospital, one looked at her crushed legs and saw how battered they were; she lifted her voice and cried, “These legs could not walk again. I can never live without my legs, so I should die!”

Ironically, the other woman looked at her legs, which had a similar injury to the other woman, and she said, I shall not die but live to declare the works of God”. I shall rise from this bed healed in Jesus’ Name”.

The outcome of both choices was not the same. The first woman was carried away from that hospital, a corpse, while the other left her home with clutches’ aid. I am convinced she will get better with time.

You are the one to make a choice; open your mouth and declare to heaven, earth, and hell the selection you have made. First, however, remember you experience what you desire.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24.

WILL POWER

You can see clearly from the previous that your willpower ultimately helps in your choice. Therefore, you must develop your willpower to become strong. Learn to persist in what you want. It is only persistence that destroys resistance. When you persist, your enemies will cease, and they will also retreat. In effect, I am saying that, even after your choice is made, the situation may not change immediately physically, though it might have changed in the spiritual. You, therefore, need strong willpower to persist until the physical manifestation. What the Psalmist said in Psalm 118 reflects His willpower! “I shall not die but live”.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7.

What we are today is the choice we made yesterday. You Can Do It. Praise God!
